We offer prayers ...
For Families Gracious God, who created the families of the earth, we commend to Your care all the families of this congregation, this community, and this world. We pray this day that each home may be a home where hope gives light to life. We pray for homes where there is no hope - where there is danger, violence, hurtful words, and unceasing activity without reason. We pray for children, youth, and adults; for parents, step-parents, foster parents, for couples; for those alone, and for those who have formed family from friendship. May Your grace be present to all. Grant us wisdom to seek God's peace in our homes, our communities, and our world. Grant us courage to look for signs of hope so that in times when we see only the negative actions of human to human, we remember Your presence and the promise of Your kingdom on earth and in heaven. Deuteronomy 31:8; Psalm 119:76
For Pastors Diligently pray God blesses and guides Pastor Johnson and all other pastors (especially Pastors Andy Becker, Brad Boyer, Richard Boyer, Jeff Ernstmeyer, Jeff Hemingway, Tim Lawson, and Ron Rock), vicars, seminary students, missionaries, teachers, and other professional church workers, their spouses and children. Pour out Your Spirit upon them; give them strength and renew them as representatives of Your Word. May they faithfully walk with God and be filled with God's inspiration and strength in all they do. Proverbs 2:6
For the Military and Government Leaders Pray God blesses, protects and guides all men and women currently serving in the Armed Forces Pray for God's wisdom and guidance for President Bush and all of the nation's leaders as they make decisions regarding our safety from terrorists who continue to threaten the world. May we as Americans not forget that our democracy is a gift from God. May we keep focused upon God. Proverbs 13:34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.
For the Ill Please remember in your prayers all those who struggle with health issues. And the LORD, He it is that doth go before thee; He will be with thee, He will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8 May Your unfailing love be my comfort, according to Your promise to Your servant. Psalm 119:76
Luther’s Morning Prayer I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
Luther’s Evening Prayer I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day; and I pray that You would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
Asking a Blessing The eyes of all look to You, O Lord, and You give them their food at the proper time. You open Your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. Psalm 145:15-16 Then shall be said the Lord's Prayer and the following: Lord God, heavenly Father, bless us and these Your gifts which we receive from Your bountiful goodness, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Returning Thanks Also, after eating, they shall, in like manner, reverently and with folded hands say: Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His love endures forever. He gives food to every creature. He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call. His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor His delight in the legs of a man; the Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love. Psalm 136:1, 25; 147:9-11 |
